Getting the Most out of Using Sketches

Hello and Happy New Year!!!!!!

hope you had a very safe and fun celebration!!! and welcome 2014!!!!!

I'm up over on the Scrapbook Steals blog with a fun post about sketches you can see HERE.
. If there’s anything I love, it’s a GREAT sketch to get your mojo flowing and to take some of the thinking time out of your projects.
Today I am sharing with you one of my card sketches and am going to show you how to really work that sketch. I used the same 6×6 My Mind’s Eye paper pad and sentiment to be consistent with the examples.

First: Follow it. Use the sketch the way it is layed out.

Next: Flip it. Whether you flip it 90%, 180% or just flip some of the elements. Have fun playing around with the positioning of the sketch.

Third: Open Space. Use only a smaller space of the sketch. For this card I cut down the size of the elements used, then I left some open space and used some mist splats on it.

Last: Make it your Own. Believe it or not, the same sketch is in here. I added tons of layers. I changed some of the shapes and made it my own. There are times when I use a sketch as a jumping off point and my project doesn’t resemble the sketch very much. That is totally fine, because it gave you that boost and you let your creativity really flow.

Thanks sooo much for stopping by!!!!!
Have a great day!!!!!
